So I've been comparing the Xbox360 and PS3 versions of the game, and eventually the PS4 version when it drops, to find out how much of a difference there is between them. While I'm struggling to break 1:30 with Jill bad% on PS3 (if I do it will be just barely) it's easy to not only crack it but even get a low 1:28 on the Xbox.

I've noticed that the PS3 version takes longer to load and the fps even drops, slowing down the game a good chunk in some parts; you get slow down and dropped inputs, which is always fun for a speedrun. Considering how many camera angles there are it should be easy to see how much of a difference a few frames make in an 85+ minute speedrun. Cosmicabuse managed to break 1:30 and that I've been eyeing that run in particular to see if it was because of pre-loading. Pre-loading is playing the game prior to running to cut down on load times and it's a trick Demon's Souls runners do to cut load times in half. The X360 version, so far, does not benefit from this.

Meanwhile the X360 version seems to flawlessly load each camera angle except for one particular shot in the Lab that both struggle to load. It's jarring because the timing for certain dodges and tricks are a lot earlier as a result and after playing the PS3 version for a while it can take a while to get used to. Basically, the only way to compare different versions is to directly compare each runner's performance on a room-by-room basis. I doubt anyone would since it's easier to just stick to one version but regardless I'm doing this anyway because I'm a sucker for this kind of shit.

Euro Gamer analyzed a small section of the PS4 version and the frame drops have been massively mistaken for actual fps drops when it's just the game loading the next camera angle; the game rocks a solid 30fps for 100% of the gameplay. That said, the video tells you exactly when it's loading and how long it's taking to load with the frame time chart, which is incredible information to have without having to pause the video yourself and rewind/advance frame by frame. I've been asking around, sent emails, and got only one response as to how to have such a set up. I'd LOVE to have that and probably sooner than I expect since I've been saving up for a new PC, which may result in me getting a 4th version of the bloody game. >___> The load times range from 2 to 7 frames, on par with Xbox360, not counting any cut scenes because you don't watch those anyway.

Definitely interesting to compare. Just to make sure this is PS3 digital download vs 360 digital download?

It's PS3 vs 360 vs PS4 now. It'll take a while and I'm only going by the consoles and models I own so I may be wrong compared to other runners. For example, I already noticed Carci's PS4 loads a couple of rooms faster where my PS4 struggles.

Atm I'll stick to one category, probably Jill bad% Normal, because the idea is to get a general idea.

What I can say for now is the PS4 does load the fastest out of the three and it even loads the inventory screen as fast as the Wii/GC versions do where the last-gen versions delay. Basically, PS4>360>PS3.

Also, western release does not have Wesker's Report. I was really looking forward to an official translation and fix of Wesker's hilarious belief that Leon A and Leon B are canon. A.K.A What was Claire doing? :(
