Hi everyone. I want to test new strategies for Resident Evil 2 and share and explain them to help out the community and anyone foreign to Resident Evil speedrunning. While some of these strats are hard to perform, others are easy and are just overlooked. Jikkachan's runs on PC are very impressive, but there are MANY small things that can be improved on for optimization even with the strats he uses.
I'll start out by sharing a fairly easy strat that can save around a second. It's easy but overlooked and saves around a second. For the fireplace in the Red Gem room, holding upleft on the control stick picking up the red gem is faster, because no stationary turns are needed.

I found another fast strat. To perform it correctly requires a little jerky movement. Coming down the stairs after getting the Unicorn medal, make a sharper "run-turn" than normal, pretending
you are ignoring the door behind the zombie. midway through, sharp turn the
opposite way (to the right of the zombie) and head to the door. No luck involved, and it's even faster than Jikkachan's strat! It is a form of zombie manipulation. It's a little tricky to do

New Strat: Evading Misty Near Staircase at Valve Area

after turning the corner tightly, angle yourself a wee bit towards the staircase and run. If done correctly, you will pass by the girl zombie without even worrying about the other zombie

Another strat that I discovered just yesterday. This is for the MO disc room for Claire A! It's faster than the strat Jikkachan uses! I managed to record it the first try after just experimenting/practicing for a little. Pulling off this strat correctly is tough to do without knowledge of zombie movement patterns. The main thing is luring the zombies. The great thing about the technique is not worrying about zombies "playing possum" because no ammo is used. Also, instead of taking a bite, I think you can just use 1 flame round if you're low on HP. I love this strat and hopefully people can learn it!
