So my DS run got beat by "Mesmerize" a little while ago on Desmume, but I think Desmume draws the timer from a different place than the game... Something to investigate.

I am Delicious!

Just started speed running one of my favorite games of all time, and was curious about the tricks of speed running. Also thought I would share some knowledge I have found.

Jill any% completed.

Chemical skip: can grab the mansion key after a couple attempts, I use the move forward, go backward then forward technique to get past the plants of course holding run and UP-RIGHT. I was able to get past the plants only taking two hits.

Barry Skip: I need help with this one, not sure when to push start to stop him from talking? I’ve mashed the start button and held run and directions but it’s never consistent.
Serum Skip: This one is less difficult you press START just as your running past the pillar and before the camera changes to Richard. If you do it right you will see yourself in running animation before you walk up to Richard, then wait for Jill to say “Richard what happened” before you push START again or you might freeze the game. Then off camera you have to leave the way you came in. Also Jill’s face seems to look towards a funny direction for a while as a result.

Yawn 1 No Damage: I’m still trying to work on this one.

Possible other skips. It seems to me that the START button can affect a lot in this game from knife swipes to rocket launcher animation. Was wondering if anyone had success with skipping the Wesker is missing scene by going underneath the stairs?

There's a way to avoid 99% safe yawn, but it takes like 20 secs overall than going "yolo" and getting lucky

I saw a video by the Levebest about diffrent ways. Currently working on the richard skip and getting that down. Seems you bait yawn and then run as she strikes to go past.

Richard Skip:

Im not sure if you do it too early ( as in going there before you grab the crest in the armor room) that it won't let you pull it off. Still experimenting with that. Was able to do the berry skip 3 times in a row the other night so I might be figureing out the frame you need.

The serum skip (aka Glitchard) needs to be done 421s after the start of the game (menus and doors do not increment that "particular" timer).
So basically, you need to "waste" time before doing it, otherwise Richard won't die.

Thank you, I now go for the armor crest before the glitchhard lol and the succses rate is up did a personal pb last night of 1 hour 10 min and 5 seconeds still 15 min away from the recored. Been enjoying sephjul and garlmemory ( sorry if there name is spelled wrong :( and the recored swap between them. Is there anyone else attempting or plans on attempting the recored. I belive it is 56:50

Also I am playing on the ps3 directors cut so I guess im shooting for Amiral Popov's time of 1:02:30

Or would the psn version count as emulator and not disc.

Playing PSN on PS3 counts as emulator, but it's slower than PS1. You would be hard pressed to beat Popov's time, especially since i'm almost 100% sure he played that run on a PS2, despite the fact it says SCPH-7000. I don't think you can reach 1:02 unless you play on a PS2.

I guess the extra read speed allows the doors to open faster?
Been working on strategies to improve the times and I am getting close to start recording attempts. Will have to bust out the PS2 and see the difference in speeds.

Yeah, it's the extra read speed.

There is always a specific amount of time for the door animations to finish, but you notice the time gain during the room fade-in... That's where the game engine for RE1 and RE2 allows a loading time buffer for any unfinished loading.

More tricks and glitches then I remember, I really should get around to trying to run this as it's always been a favorite game of mine.

Was the super old pc version of RE1 any good? long time ago I nearly bought it from a school friend, did it have the saturn changes in it?

Speaking of which, has anyone else besides me played on Saturn? I dunno how to trigger the twin Tyrants :(

The Gold Tyrant in the Battle Game is pretty legit though.

Trying to list out a good WSplit list for a non glitch run. Any ideas? *Edit*

Decided to go with Chemical, Armor Key, Serum, Sun Crest, Bathtub, Elevator Ride, and Brad Sucks.

So far a 1:17:36 which needs ALOT of work.

What is the best path to take? Grab the golden emblem then get the blue jewel then go see richard for the first time or grab snake key and crest before seeing richard for the first time.

I just do all the items or just bosses on my splits.

-Grab the chemical

-Grab the bazooka after Barry gave you the acid rounds

-Take the statue down

-Use the chemical and pick the armor key

-Back to the dining room, grab both the blue jewel and the wood emblem, in that order

-Music room, use the partition, take the golden emblem

-Use the jewel in the eye of the tiger, take the crest

-Dining room, use the golden emblem and pick the key behind the clock

-Go see Richard

-Go take the serum

-Return to Richard

-Yawn skip, take the crest

-Gaz room, take the crest

-Go to painting room, take the crest

-Get out of that f*ckin mansion
