The purpose of this topic being created was simply for me to archive my thoughts on the current state of SH1 speedrunning.

I got back into speedrunning this game last Sunday and have been working steadily on improving over the last week.

My current fastest run is a 32:39 for an Any% easy mode run found here: http://www.twitch.tv/ekudeht/c/5742708

Though sub 32:30 is my goal for this game I couldn't help myself and earlier decided I would do a run using savestates in order to try to gauge just how fast this game can be completed assuming perfect RNG and no mistakes made (Aside from a few minor movement mistakes here and there; I wasn't going all out TAS on it just wanted to get an idea of how flawed my 32:39 run really is for a SS).

After a few hours I managed to finish a near flawless run in a time of 31:47 (Don't know how much faster this can really be done...I was drinking while playing and, though not drunk, I'm not going to make any estimates...overall the run was fantastic).  This has given me some perspective on what a WR in the game could be giving enough grinding of the game.  Though I would never expect to match the 31:47 I did here a sub 32:30 no longer seems all that appealing.  Now I believe a great run of this game that really stretches the limits of what is reasonable to expect in a SS would at least be a sub 32:15 and, if there exists a really sick and determined individual somewhere in the world, maybe one day we'll see a sub 32 minute run....just don't ever expect that from me.:-p

I know a sub 32:30 SS run would only be a matter of time if i wish to keep working at it and I'm confident that if I really grinded this game out my ability would allow a run of sub 32:15 to eventually be a reality...not sure I want to put in the time though.
