Because of Tactical Resets, the In Game Timer is super Innacurate so I was wondering if we should consider timing the game with RTA because  it would be the most accurate way of timing a game that  adds up all times together at the end unlike the other Resident Evil games where resets do not work on the runner's favor. I just want to start a discussion about it and see what the community thinks about it.

If we're talking SS, then RTA is already the standard. IGT is for individual chapter runs.

Originally when I was looking at what console we would run on, I did a quick comparison between PS3 and 360. There's no way that PS3 can compete against 360 in an RTA. I've looked at PC and that's even faster loading than 360.

However, the IGT seems accurate between all 3 versions which is why I am personally leaning towards just using IGT for an SS. That means everyone can try for the same time instead of having to have 3 different times for each game version. Obviously this means you can't restart because you mess up. You just restart where it is beneficial to restart on the IGT (e.g. transportation after a checkpoint). Then again that does mean that you would be free to change inventory items without any time penalty which means some changes to the route.

I guess in a nutshell, I'm not against separating game versions specifically for timing via RTA if that is what people want to do. I'm just worried that even this won't be fair among PC. Like if two people who have the game installed to SSD run against two people on normal hard drives.

It's already RTA separated by versions.

i chose that because i figured it would cut out all the non tactical restarts.

RTA would be my choice  for this game(unless IL)

Different versions all have different load times so I think it is more appropriate to separate xbox360, ps3 and pc in the leaderboard especially as the PC version is not in patch "gold" v2.00 but v1. 0.0.129 called "PC Edition". A version of the game has more flaws (OOB the chap2-2 for example).

Regarding the time, I do not advice to use the time of the game I use the real-time as it counts restart teleporter, time inventory.
Then to complete, the time involved is not always very fair when the framerate fluctuates and the backup system is very boring for the ingame time, there must be a blank sav (easy to do on pc but incredibly annoying console especially before the gold release) or make additions ...

So I vote for separate classification between versions and use the irl time (as I do myself) ^^

I'm pretty sure the PC and Gold Edition (v2) of console are the same. To make sure, you'd have to try the flame skip on 3-2 as I am pretty sure that was the only glitch that was ever patched for Console v2 (go to 2:25 in to see flame skip):

nop, the PC edition and Gold Edition are different.

For example:

PC => OOB chap 2-2 work
Gold => OBB Don't work

PC => 1 shoot (With Ithaca) for stop the first chainsaw-man (chap 2-1) even in professional difficulty
Gold => 1,2 or 3 shoots for stop them in the Veteran difficulty with same weapon !

I sure there are still more differents things to find.

A bit of : I don't know if the glitch I have found in chap 1-1 (Retard Ennemmies / Invisible Team) work with the gold edition. I try just with PC and ps3 v1.00 and I can't try with another version for now. :/

Sorry but I just did the OoB on Gold v2 on PS3. I think you gotta recheck your findings.

Damage values are going to remain unchanged. That second 'finding' seems to be influenced by DA (Difficulty Adjustment)

I`m using a timer for RTA, only because I consider organizing part of the game play. I decided to start the timer as soon as we hit ready for 1-1, then I split when we hit ready for 1-2. Afterwards, I split after the stats board, when we hit ready. That way, it makes it easier if we want to work on a selected chapter and compare our times. It has been working well for us!
