Hey guys,

Kind of new to speed running,  but been doing them for awhile anyway,  nothing worthwhile other then the few runs I've managed to get for the NG+ runs I've done.
but i do plan to try running all 6 categories for Revelations anyway.  tryin to get a better handle on what others use to there advantage as well.  but I'll list what I've been using to get past sections and such,

"Beach Pass"
Pretty sure everyone uses this,  but during mission 1-2 when it flash backs to the beach with jill and parker,  you can skip out the blob breaking out of the door by simply making sure your last scan for 100% happens back in the starting area.  so you can quickly route out a few blobs to scan on the way to the second room scan the 3-4 blobs in there and then run all the way back and end your scan on the blob with the "Metal Detected" scan in it for the final 100%

"Radio Harassment"
Another "skip" you can use to avoid a radio conversation,  when you go to get the key from Rachel's corpse when she's thrown against the glass in 1-3 if you leave the oozes' alone you're able to skip the entire radio conversation that would occur otherwise,  so simply run into the room,  past the table and scan in between the oozes and hope one lunges at you while you pick the key up to even avoid some damage and knock back delay.

"Crab Walk"
this is what I heavily abuse and from what I've noticed in other video's of runners,  no one really uses.  i Don't know if its because they use a controller,  but with the keyboard,  during any radio conversation you're stuck in,  if you walk diagonally  with W + A or D you will move at the double the speed,  this works for really any time your character isn't moving at the default run speed.  IE,  Radio call, Shouldering Raymond,  Getting up with Chris after the wolf defense in his first flash back.  thing's like that.  It'll make you move faster during those slow down's  I've not tested to see if it works on a controller,  so I've no clue otherwise.

"Magic Pipe"
When the bilge is flooding and you have to find the two pipes to break your way out of the top of the room,  you can grab one of the pipes through the console as you dive under,  instead of having to swim over and grab it,  which leaves the one at the bottom the only one to really have to swim to get.

I've named them stupidly because I have a childish mind and a horrible naming sense,  no idea what people call them.  but thats basically what i've labeled them as when ever i've gone through and ran things.

Anyone else have any tricks they've used while running through ?

+almost forgot some basic thing's to use for New Game+ runs

Wet Suit Parker
using the default wet suit Parker skin for New Game+ is damn near a must,  the melee with the knife for the flash backs (Teragrigia) can 1-2 shot hunters depending on where you hit them,  this includes infernal difficulty.  If you can clip them in the face with the axe its a 1 hit kill,  otherwise 2 swings and you're golden.

Im pretty sure some of the other skins give benefits as well for new game +,  at least from what ive noticed some seem to hit harder with certain weapons more often then normal,  biggest example is the wet suit parker knife/axe attack for hunters,  which is a huge difference from the default knife attack,  im pretty sure sailor chris can kill the fenrir (wolves) from the mission 2-1 more often with a single shot including infernal difficulty with a slightly higher chance to do so,  then again,  i have no concrete proof to say that this actually happens,  its either I've just gotten better at hitting them in the weak spot (Giant gaping wound on the side of them) or there is a higher 1 shot kill chance with that outfit.  Still playing around with the others.  but so far from jill there's nothing special since most of the time you can already one shot what you need to kill with either the lightning hawk, hydra or infinite launcher when it gets in your way.

I'm still trying to 100% raid mode to unlock the last few skins to confirm the rest of the skins between the characters,  but so far Keith and Quinn don't seem to be any different nor does Jessica,  but i still need to unlock ninja keith and see if the bonus melee damage carries over to single player from raid mode costume.  so i should have it relatively soon anyway.  I'm really hoping it does,  because that would be two quick kill options for the hunters on both Teragrigia and the downed ships and airbase wave defense missions

I've finally unlocked all the characters for single player use,  the only one i need is Hunk in Raid mode,  and i need a Gluttony for it.

But i can now safely say,  Wet Suit Parker is the ONLY costume that gives any benefit really.  Ninja Keith does nothing.  and Pirate Jill just looks the best,  but otherwise.  once you beat the game once,  you have all you need to run it fast.  so you have no need to bust your humps to almost 100% raid mode to get everything.  Unless of course you want cosmetic items like i did.

I figure id post it in here instead of making another thread,  but I stumbled across an annoying bug while i did my Deathless Infernal NG+ run.  after you reunite with Chris as Jill and have to run to the Lab,  after you enter the elevator to get into the laboratory.  If you don't kill everything before leaving the elevator,  you get treated to an annoying bug that ended up costing me a solid minute and a bit of time,  the door to enter the lab just locks up until you run ALL the way back to the elevator then all the way back to the door.

If it wasn't for the fact i really wanted to record my Deathless run.  and up to that point i had everything fixed for the most part from my last run.  That would have been a reset.  Either way i was still an improvement over my last Infernal Run.

But yea.  Once the video is up and encoded on youtube ill post a time frame in the forum for what i mean about the door seizing up.

You can avoid the cutscene skip where Jill cuts the vial out of the slug's belly on the beach too, by simply getting to 100% without scanning it. Think it'll save at least 5 seconds.

yeah I don't think I've ever had that cutscene.  That's the final scan you do on the beach i think,  thats the blob with the metal inside of it.  if you make sure thats the last scan of the mission,  you skip that cutscene O'Brian's speech seems to overwrite that cutscene so long as you end on it.    unless im mistaken and im going slowly insane from running this game for so long haha.

After running through the game more ive noticed things i thought that were RNG are in fact not,  here is what ive discovered after multiple run troughs to prove my findings.

Screw Driver Locations
Screwdriver for when your jill
Casual: In Bath
Normal: Under toilet Seat
Infernal: In Bath

Keith in 3-1 when Quint trips
Casual: drops at Shelves
Normal: drops at shelves
Infernal: Drops outside door to bunks

Slot Machine Coin's
This isn't RNG at all from what ive noticed,  each difficulty has a set location for where you'll get the coin bundle on your first attempt,  if you dont get it on the first attempt,  its faster to keep spamming the coin in the machine,  after 4 trys you get the bundle regardless of outcome.
Disregard that,  it's totally RNG,  did more runs to finalize the output of where the coins come from on all 3 difficulties,  so hope you get it first try or else just spam it in the same machine 4 times for the bundle,  that much i know isnt RNG at least.  its a 100% chance after 4 tries regardless of machine used.  but as for the first attempt,  that is RNG.

Actual Item drops that aren't the Brown/Tannish ammo containers are all pre-set drops,  the Tan Boxes are all RNG dependent on what your current ammo capacities are and how low % wise your weapons are.  I'm not 100% sure how to manipulate these.  but I've gotten some progress by having the extended bags for certain weapons at certain times to manipulate the boxes to be certain things.
